Following our Peer Advocacy Training Programme we are now able
to give graduates the opportunity to develop the theoretical skills
they have learnt in a practical environment.
The placement scheme is based on the graduate student seeing how
the training they have received is applied in the setting of a
fully operational advocacy service.
Over a seven week period the graduates will be given an understanding
of the day to day routines all staff must perform to ensure that
all are clients needs are satisfied and the office is run smoothly.
The placement will be given the opportunity to interact with members
from our sister organisation Mary Seacole House, take on daily
responsibilities in the office, attended psychiatric units, meet
with statutory and voluntary bodies and gain a working understanding
of what is required to work as an advocate.
The whole process is aimed at empowering the students from the
Peer Advocacy Training Programme and enabling them to speak for
themselves and others in a formal setting. |
